On January 3rd, the Bekkum Family of Westby (WI), producers of Nordic Creamery cheeses, announced a voluntary recall for Grumpy Goat Shredded Cheese (8oz bags) with a sell by date of 10-Mar-12.
This is a voluntary recall, made in an abundance of caution. Grumpy Goat was shredded on the same piece of equipment where another brand of cheese is processed. Those cheeses recently tested positive for Listeria monocytogenes. Grumpy Goat cheeses have not tested positive for the bacteria.

Our pies are handmade from scratch by our baker, Adam Wolff, formerly of The Birchwood Cafe. Adam uses the highest quality ingredients in his baked goods including Schultz organic eggs (Owatonna, MN) and Ivy Farms heavy cream (Hastings, MN). Our selection rotates among blueberry, peach, apple, pecan, pumpkin, Key lime and chocolate velvet.
The new “half pies” have been a big hit. As one customer commented, “This is the perfect size for my family.

Rejoice! Gluten-free folks and their gluten-please friends will both enjoy these scrumptious goodies! Banana bread, German chocolate cupcakes, chocolate chiffon pound cake, and more. Baked at our sister co-op, Valley Natural Foods, in Burnsville.
Stop by the co-op on Mondays, and you’re in for a sweet deal! Our bakery will be offering two housemade, fresh-baked cupcakes for the price of one. Mix and match chocolate and vanilla, share one with a friend, or savor both yourself—we won’t tell!
That’s right, buy one cupcake, get one free on Mondays! Limit four cupcakes total, please. This offer applies to our housemade, fresh-baked cupcakes only, while supplies last.
Thank Goodness for Pizza Fridays! That’s right, our deli is offering any hot, delicious, homemade slice for just $1 on Fridays.
As with all of our deli items, we strive to use local, organic ingredients whenever possible. For our housemade, fresh-baked pizzas, we use organic flour, Organic Valley pepperoni & sausage and local Rochdale Farms mozzerella.
Nothing beats a hot, satisfying lunch on a cold winter day. Combine that with our friendly service and a seat by our picture windows, and your day just got brighter. Check out our hot bar offerings. They rotate daily, but are always sure to please.
Our newest cheese, Sartori’s BellaVitano, is a local cheese, but it traces its heritage all the way back to Asiago, Italy. We’ve carried Sartori’s award-winning SarVecchio parmesan and asiago cheeses for quite some time now. During a recent demo, Sartori’s Jack Anderson sampled these two familiar (but extraordinary!) cheeses.
Have you stopped by the deli counter lately? The new winter dishes are delicious—like the raw kale and golden beet salad that must be tasted to be believed. We’ve got meat and meatless main dishes, salads, sides and sandwich fixings, soups, desserts and so much more—all ready for you to pick up, unpack, and serve to your hungry family.
When you’re just too busy to cook, we’re here to help.
Parties are no problem either—just give us 48 hours notice and we’ll put together a party platter, an assortment of salads, heat-and-serve meats or meatless main dishes to order.
There are only a few things in our store that have their origins on the Mediterranean island of Cyprus. One is Stephanos; the other is Halloumi cheese.
So if you’d like to know just why Halloumi is such a wonderful cheese, ask Stephanos (you’ll find out why he’s pretty wonderful at the same time). Stephanos says in Cyprus, Halloumi is served before dinner, often grilled, as part of a mezze platter, the Cypriot version of tapas. Slice it thin, and make a delicious grilled cheese sandwich.
Our deli’s making ready-to-bake pizzas for your quick weeknight meals (or easy party snacking). Featuring house-made all-natural hand-tossed crust, a great red sauce, and a blend of cheeses, our pizzas are almost as good as homemade.
