What's in Season

Want to know what’s LOCAL and in season? Send an email to Allie(at)lindenhills.coop, with “Produce Watch” in the subject line; you’ll get up-to-the-minute alerts about short-lived local phenomena like ramps, morels and strawberries!

From March to mid-May, much of our produce comes from California, Australia, New Zealand and Argentina. Argentina is the world’s top exporter of organic pears and runs second only to Australia in total certified organic acreage. Some citrus products arrive from Australia, as well as organic apples from Argentina and New Zealand. By May, some Minnesota and Wisconsin farmers make their yearly debut. Local radishes, various greens, arugula and rhubarb start appearing in the co-ops. Prices for organic fruits and veggies remain at winter highs until summer, when more farmers enter the market, driving down prices.

Spring favorites include:
apricots
asparagus
arugula
avocados
bok choi
carrots
chard
cucumbers
dandelion
garlic
kohlrabi
leeks
lettuces
mushrooms (spring varieties)
radishes
rhubarb
scallions
spinach
sweet onions
